It is my pleasure, on behalf of the
conference organizers and sponsors, to
welcome you to the International Conference
on Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.
This time, the Conference is held in the
historic city of Nanjing. Nanjing was
one of the six major capitals in ancient
China, where ten Chinese dynasties set up
their central governments at one time or
another. The Conference venue is located in
the Nanjing University of Science and
Technology, one of key universities in
China and is very close to the beautiful
Zhongshan scenery area and Xiao Mausoleum of
the Ming Dynasty, which was
honored "World Cultural Heritage" by the UN
Organization of Science, Education and
Culture.
The aim of this conference is to provide a
forum for international experts and
researchers to present, review and
exchange knowledge and opinion about
advances in mechanical engineering and
mechanics. More than 1100 abstracts
were submitted to the conference. 528
manuscripts were reviewed by the Program
Committee and invited experts. The
proceedings include 348 papers. Among them
16 keynote papers will be delivered at the
conference. Topics of these
papers cover almost all the areas in
Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.
I am indebted to all the members of the
Organizing Committee and Program Committee
for their most valuable
contribution in making this conference a
success. I would also like to thank the
sponsors for their supporting. The
conference is most grateful to a large
number of faculty members and students of Nanjing University of Science and
Technology who have contributed tremendous
time and effort to bring ICMEM2005 to you.
I hope that this conference will be a
