WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIRMAN

      It is my pleasure, on behalf of the conference organizers and sponsors, to welcome you to the International Conference on Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics, Wuxi, China. Wuxi is located at the centre of China’s Yangtze Delta. Wuxi is a fine tourist attraction and a famous city in China’s Jiangnan (South-of-the-Yangtze Area): the cradle of Wu Culture, a birthplace of China’s national industry and commerce as well as the place with the best-preserved section of China’s Grand Canal that unfolds the charm of the traditional Jiangnan.

      The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for international experts and researchers to present, review and exchange knowledge and opinions about advances in mechanical engineering and mechanics. More than 1100 abstracts were submitted to the conference. 998 draft papers were reviewed by the Programming Committee and invited experts. The proceedings comprise 451 papers including 15 keynote addresses that will be delivered at the conference. Topics of these papers cover essentially all areas in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.

       I am indebted to members of the Organizing Committee and the Programming Committee for their valuable contributions in making this conference a success. I would also like to thank the sponsors for their support, especially the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES). I am equally grateful to a large number of faculty members and students of Nanjing University of Science and Technology who have contributed tremendous time and effort in bringing the ICMEM2007 to you.

      I hope that this conference will be a worthwhile experience for all participants. A sincere welcome to all of you, and I wish you an enjoyable and fruitful experience in Wuxi, China.

The Parpers of the International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics 2007

      The Proceedings of the International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and
Mechanics 2007 comprise 15 keynote addresses and 436 papers selected from the 998 papers submitted for possible publication in the proceedings. These papers range over nine aspects of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics: Engineering Design, Mechatronics and Robotics, Applied Mechanics, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), Vehicle Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Design Art and Mechanical Engineering Education. The contents of the proceedings reflect the latest developments in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.
